First of all I feel like I haven't blogged much about this pregnancy. During your second pregnancy, you don't pay as much attention to the pregnancy because you are chasing a toddler around all day. Anyway, our due date is approaching quickly. It's January 4th, but she may induce on the 28th or 29th before the year is up. I'll know more after my 36 week appointment on Thursday. Myers was several days early, so he could come early on his own. It's crazy to think that we could have a baby on Christmas.

My sister, aunt, Matt's sister and best friends hosted a shower for Harris at Mint. If your looking for a place to host a shower, this is the perfect place. It was outside, and since there were a few kids, it worked out great. Harris got some really cute stuff. Myers got to play with all his friends, and instead of a card, everyone brought Myers a book to make him feel like a special big brother.

From Halloween to Thanksgiving

Here's a rundown of what's been going on around here from Halloween to Thanksgiving.

On Halloween we went to a festival and trick or treating with the Smiths and Tuminellos. Then we went back to the Tuminellos to eat taco soup.

The Mikkelsons came in town from South Carolina. Myers LOVES Walker. He says his name constantly. He thinks that every baby he sees is Mason which is funny because Mollie and Mason are only 3 months younger than him.

I could eat these two up. How cute are they? Mollie's personality just makes me laugh.

Myers says and does some really funny things. I wanted to write about them, not because any of you care, but because I don't want to forget them. You may think that a bidet (pronounced ba day) is a toilet that sprays water, but in Myers language it means please. Anytime he wants something he starts saying "baday, baday" or if he wants something and we say, "say please". He says, "baday" in the cutest little voice. It's so funny.

He's obsessed with monkeys, or as he calls them "aa aa's". He wears his "aa aa" shoes around the house all day. They are monkey feet slippers that go with his, you guessed it, monkey Halloween costume.

He loves to "tee tee in the potty". He goes in the bathroom with his clothes on and sits on his potty and tee tee's.

He says hey and bye to everyone and everything. When he comes into the room he says, "hey football" or "hey pumkin" and when he leaves, he says, "bye aa aa" or "bye raddit".

He loves feeding his pumpkins. Gina gave him a huge plastic light-up pumpkin and he feeds it cheese-its and candy corn everyday. The problem is that the top doesn't come off and you can't get stuff out. This is a picture from this morning as I was saying, "Myers, you may not feed mommy's phone to your pumpkin." Notice he's hiding it behind his back.

This past Sunday we visited the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins to carve. Myers absolutely loved it. You ride on a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. On the way there you stop while they feed all the animals. Some of the animals come up to the hayride, so the kids can pet them. Myers was so cute picking out his pumpkin. He tried to pick several up that were a little too heavy. We found one he could carry, and he carried it back to the hayride by himself.

The Mississippi State Fair

I always feel like it's officially fall when the fair comes to town. We've gone to the fair for as long as I can remember. It's interesting to people watch at the fair for sure. And I always end up eating way too much. This year I only had a pronto pup and a cinnaman roll. The most fun we had this year was defnintely in the petting zoo. We got a bag of carrots and Myers loved feeding all the animals.

First Injury

So last week was crazy. Matt left on Sunday for a conference and got back on Wednesday. I work on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, so I was alone. I have to be at work at 7. Myers can't get to school until 7:30, so my sister had to be here every morning at 6:45 to take him to school. Matt got back on Wednesday afternoon, and I left Wednesday night for a conference in Biloxi. Wednesday was Matt's birthday, and we basically saw each other long enough for Gina to treat us to a birthday dinner. Thursday morning while I was at the conference I noticed I had 2 missed calls from Myers' school. I called them back (sick to my stomach) and they said Myers had fallen and busted his lip open. I asked if she thought he needed stitches, and her answer was "maybe". By this point I'm about to throw up and bawl cry. Matt went and got him from school. Poor baby's shirt was covered with blood. All the teachers gave him lots of TLC and decided he didn't need any stitches. Instead he got to go to Burger King and get a crown and a milkshake.

This is a really bad picture, but you can see how swollen it was.

Notice that Matt let him go to Burger King in a size 4 (he wears a 24 month) Cubs t-shirt that Uncle Marcus brought him from Chicago. This would have never happened if I would have been in town!

Haircut

This picture finally made me take the plunge and get Myers his first haircut. When I looked at it, his hair just looked out of control. I really didn't want to get his hair cut. I just kept thinking that he was going to get this horrible "boy cut" and his sweet long soft hair and baby curls would be gone. I've been trimming it for a while now, but I knew it needed a professional.

So we called our friend Kristen to take on the challenge. She did a great job. He didn't want to sit in the chair by himself and he didn't want to wear the smock. She gave him a sucker (sidenote: he's never had a sucker before) and let him sit in Matt's lap. He did great. He ate the sucker and didn't say a word. Matt was covered in sticky blue slobber with hair stuck to it, but the haircut looked so cute!

Where Did September Go?

I told myself I was not going to let a month go by before blogging. We have just been having so much fun lately that I have to designate a time to blog. My aunt has Myers today while I go to the doctor (so I'm drinking my delicious glucose drink as I type this). I told myself I was going to update the blog while I was here alone. Myers couldn't go to school today because he had his 18 month check-up/shots. He was the sweetest little thing in the doctor's office. He let the nurse weigh him and measure him and let the doctor do the whole check-up with out any problems. The only time he cried was during the 4 shots!! It was the saddest thing!! Of course emotional pregnant mother cried too. He weighe 27 lbs. 8 oz. and was 33 inches long which puts him in the 75th %ile for both.

During the month of September we cut a lot of grass. We went to Memphis for Ainsley and Jason's wedding at the end of August and Myers stayed with the Flanagans while Matt and I went to the wedding. The Flanagans discovered that Myers has a future in landscape. They said he mowed the grass back and forth for 3 hours. When we got home, of course we had to go buy a lawn mower.

I love how he's pulling the lawn mower back like Daddy does.

We also went to several festivals in September. Myers' favorite part of festivals are the animals and the music. The animal rescue league had some cats and dogs at one festival we went to. He didn't understand that he couldn't put his hands in the cats' cages.

October is my favorite month of the year. We've already had a lot of excitement this October!!

Disclaimer: I am 22 weeks pregnant, so none of the following information may be used to make fun of me.

With that being said, all of the pregnancy emotions that I haven't had have all hit me this week. First, I got Myers' supply list for his new 1 year old room and on the list was a rain coat and rain boots. I don't know why this upset me so bad. There was something really sad about my baby wearing rain boots. Second, I cannot watch, see pictures of or even hear about someone having a baby. For some reason it just makes me lose it. I guess it's because I know how they feel and I'm about to do it again, and everything is going so fast, and I want to slow this pregnancy down because I know how big my babies will be so soon or maybe it's for no other reason than I'm pregnant. At Myers' "Meet the Teacher Night" I had to do everything I could do not to lose it again. I couldn't ask any questions because I was scared I would choke up. The only thing I wanted to know was if my baby could have a cover for his nap mat. I know he's not special and he doesn't need a cover, but something about a nap mat cover makes me feel like my baby isn't sleeping on the nasty plastic blue and red nap mat. I never found out if he could have one or not. Maybe I can email the teacher.

nother BOY!!

We are so excited that Myers is going to get a little brother. To be honest it took me a little while to get over that shock that I will be the only girl in a house full of boys. I was having daymares of me pulling a cooler filled with gatorade through the ballpark sunburned with a hoarse voice from yelling at the day's games. But the reality is that I'm going to absolutely love watching my precious boys play ball (or whatever they want to play).

After much discussion and debating, we have decided that his name will be...

Harris Matthew Ginn

We will call him Harris, and he his scheduled to be here at the end of December or beginning of January.

This is the car of a mom at the daycare who has two boys. Will this eventually be my car?

Marianna and Keith got married on June 19th and I don't have ONE picture!!! I'm so mad at myself. It was just such a hectic day with Matt and I both in the wedding, trying to get Myers dressed and chasing him around everywhere!!! Allison Rodgers was her photographer and she is amazing. She posted a sneak peek of the wedding pics on her blog. You can see them by clicking on this link. There is an adorable picture of Myers. It was a really fun weekend. The ceremony was really sweet and the reception was a blast. Congrats Keith and Marianna.

The Gang's All Here!

It's very rare that the Ginns, Tuminellos, Adairs and Smiths can all get together at the same time. With the Adairs living in Zambia and only coming home once every three years, the Smiths playing ball and living in Colorado from February to October, and Scott either working or playing golf all the time, it's hard to get everyone together. But this past week we were all able to hang out for a who afternoon. Seth was home for the allstar break and the Adairs were in Jackson for the last time until they leave for Africa on the 27th. We had a great time. Please pray for James and MM as they make the long journey back to Africa and continue to have such great faith to raise their family so far away in a culture that is so different than ours. We just got back from the beach with the Tuminellos. We had a great time. We spent most of our time at the pool. Myers LOVES the water. We stayed in Baytowne, and the pool there is great for kids. It's a walk-in pool, so Myers was able to sit and play in the shallow end. Also, I wasn't worried about him stepping off the edge of the pool since he has absolutely no fear.

On the 4th we grilled out some huge hamburgers at our condo then walked to the Village to ride the carosel, dance to the band, get some balloon animals made and watch the fireworks.

Quick story about this balloon man... no offense to anyone who has a balloon man in their family, but most people who want to stand on stilts and make balloon animals for hours probably aren't "normal". We knew this when we decided to wait in line for over an hour for Taelyn to get him to make Donut (her daschund). We get to the front and tell him what we want, and he says, "Oh, I love to eat donuts, but that would be weird because I would be eating your dog." Who says that to a 2 year old???!!! I'm sure Taelyn had lovely dreams of the balloon man eating her dog.

We finally made it to the beach on our last morning there for about oohhh 20 minutes until we realized the pool was much more convenient. But we are glad we went.

Big News!

I guess it's not really new news anymore, but we are so excited to announce that Myers is going to be a big brother! I am almost 13 weeks along which meanse we are due around January 4th, 2011. This means that Myers and the baby will be 21 months apart. Sometimes I get a little anxious about if I can actually do this huge task, but I just keep telling myself that people do it everyday. I have felt great with the exception of a little nausea and a few headaches. I was sick everyday for 3 months when I was pregnant with Myers, so this is a huge relief!! I could eat about 10 tomatos a day. I literally eat at least 1 bacon and tomato sandwich everyday. Other than that I feel pretty much the same. We will be finding out the gender at the beginning of August! Here are some pics!

Our friend Jordan has started a new business selling her handmade outifts she makes. When she first created her website, I saw this adorable green jon jon with an "M" on it. I knew Myers' birthday was coming up, and I was secretly hoping that "M" stood for Myers. I was so excited when she gave it to him for his birthday. It's adorable. And as most of you moms would probably agree, I don't want any clothing that isn't good quality for my rough one year old (especially since I have a boy). I don't want anything that's going to unravel in the dryer come out really wrinkled to where I have to iron it. I can honestly say this outfit has been great! The next thing I'm getting is this adorable pair of kangaroo shorts. I love them. If you need a baby gift, I would highly recommend Chasing Charlie Designs.

so you hear me talk about the tuminellos a good bit on this blog. casey also known as caksey has discovered her hidden talent. she is an unbelievable cake maker/decorator. and i'm not exaggerating. she has made several cakes for us including myers' first birthday cake. (you have to be good for me to give you that task.) matt and i are her biggest fans. we have annoyed her about making a blog, and she finally did it. it's not finished yet, but keep checking back to see more of her work. btw, a lot of fondant cakes don't taste good, but hers are delicious because she has a secret fondan recipe that i can't reveal. and i must also mention that her prices are unbeatable.

three special steps

if you watch special agent oso on disney, you know the "three special steps" song is very addictive. for about 2 months all we could get myers to take were 3 steps. thats all. here's a video of those 3 steps. on wednesday he finally figured out that walking was a lot easier and less painful than crawling. now he goes everywhere. we will post a video of it soon.

for those of you that read trashy gossip magazines (only in line at the grocery store; i know you don't actually buy them.) you know it is completely unacceptable in the fashion world to wear an accessory more than once. well myers has broken a major fashion rule because he loves his red sunglasses and wears them all. the. time.

a fun weekend

last weekend we went to atlanta to see seth play against the braves. on friday night we stayed with the elkins at jordan's parents condo. evey was so funny!! she wanted to pretend she was a baby like myers. on saturday morning we went to the aquarium with the elkins, the tuminellos and chad and allie. i would highly recommend it to anyone. it was great. click here to see pics, since we left our camera at home. on saturday night we met up with the mikkelsons and watched seth play. myers got some kind of bad cold, so we had to leave early and sit in the freaknic traffic(apparently freaknic is a huge event. i had never heard of it.). poor matt had to miss the end of the "first no hitter in rockies history"! apparently this is a big deal. we were able to get one pic of myers and seth and casey tuminello sent me a pic she took of our fam at the aquarium in front of the jellyfish, or as i like to call them "man of wars." thanks casey! on sunday we went to the game again and went to dinner with the mikkelsons.

the first birthday

well, my baby's first birthday has come and gone. i absolutely cannot believe he is one. i thought i would be more sad that i am, but i think it's because he is so fun at this age that i can't wish him back to being a baby. but this year has gone by way too fast. it's so hard to remember back before he was born. i can't imagine not knowing him. i feel like i know him better than i know myself. i know his schedule, what he likes, doesn't like, what his sweet little feet and hands look like, how he likes to sleep, his favorite things, what makes him happy, everything. he's absolutely perfect. i can't believe i was chosen to raise him. his personality is so loving and sweet. he's easy going. he just goes along with whatever. he has made my life way better than i could ever imagine it could be, and it just keeps getting better.

on his real birthday i took off work, and matt and i took him to Sal and Mookies for pizza and ice cream. we had his party on april 10th(the weekend of the masters) and it was a golf party. we had a great time. p.s. birthdays are kind of a big deal to me!! here are some pics.

the birthday week!!

i cannot believe it's actually here! on this day one year ago i was so upset because dr. travelstead told me i was going to have to wait another week to have him because "he wasn't ready". well he decided he was too ready. anyway, the birthday party plans are under way. i've gone a little overboard, but i'm so excited about the party. i'll give you a hint about the theme. it's on the weekend of the masters.

on saturday we went to the madison easter egg hunt at strawberry park. matt and i had a lot of fun. myers didn't understand what we were doing. he didn't understand why he couldn't get the eggs until they said go. then when they finally said go he got one egg and didn't care about getting any more. he sat in the easter bunny's lap and it was so pretty outside we got some cute pics of him.

ch ch ch changes

we've had a few changes around the ginn house lately.

first, as most of you know we haven't sold our house in hernando. so until we do, we get to live in our lovely "rental". we try to do the best we can with what we've got here in our rental, but space is limited. we joke because our landlord uses our "florida room" (as she calls it) as a selling point of the house. the room is far from a floriday room. it's basically jus an enclosed room with vinyl siding. definitely nothing fancy. we turned our floriday room into a playroom this past weekend because myers' toys were overtaking our living room. it's still a work in progress, but it's getting there.

Secondly, we recovered our kitched table chairs. right before we got married we bought a table from a thrift store. i love the table, but the chairs needed to be recovered. two and a half years later, we finally did it.

myers has had some major changes too.

first, he has worn jeans for the first time, and he looks so cute in them. i went and bought him another pair because they were so cute. he looks like such a big boy in them.

he has also started a new school. it's been a big transition. matt has had to leave him bawling crying while the he is clinging to him. this morning i dropped him off, and he didn't cry when i left, so hopefully he is adjusting to it.

excuses, excuses, excuses

i could come up with at least 20 excuses as to why i haven't blogged in two months. my internet was down, we've been busy, our computer is missing about 10 keys and it's really hard to type-just to name a few. but, truthfully i'm not a writer, and i hate to write. i only did this blog because i knew i wouldn't write in a baby book, and i know it would give me some accountability. anyway, i'm back.

favorite game

myers has a new favorite game he plays. it's called "pull all the wet wipes out of the box". it seems really fun. here's how it works. myers just pulls all the wipes out of the container. i find them a little while later, and they are all dried out. myers laughs as i try to salvage any that are still good and don't have dirt on them. repeat. our solution: we gave him a box of wipe we don't like, and we just let him take these out over and over. is this a good form of discipline?

we finally had our nine month check-up last week. myers weighed 22 lbs. 6 oz. and was 27 in. long which put him in the 75%ile for weight and height. i can honestly say that he is the best baby. we take him everywhere and he has so much fun. he sleeps about 11 hours at night and takes 2 or 3 naps a day. we are loving every minute with him. he is so funny and cuddly.

some things he is doing now...

he is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything.

he's walking behind his lion or really anything he can push.

he loves to play with doors. he opens and closes them over and over.

he loves his dog scout.

he can find his dog, book, ball, lion, mama, and dada when you say any of those words

he still loves the bath. he crawls really fast into the bathroom when you say "bathtub boy"

he is eating some tablefood but would prefer baby food.

he is drinking whole milk from a sippy cup.

he loves to give open mouth kisses. it's so sweet.

he has 4 teeth- two on bottome and two on top.

first christmas

we had a very fun christmas. myers got too many new toys. on christmas eve matt, myers and i open gifts. we gave myers a scout dog which i would highly recommend. it costs $15.00 and i think it is "the best bang for your buck" gift of 2009. if you haven't seen him, you plug him up to your computer and personalize him. he will then sing songs with your name, favorite foods, colors, etc. the only problem we have found with him is that he doesn' have the name myers, so he can only spell it, not say it. he can say esperanzo and quita but not myers. don't worry, there is a place to email and request your child's name, so hopefully he will have myers soon. for those of you who have girls, there is a violet dog for them. anyway, after we opened gifts, we went to my mom's house and ate chili. myers got a 4-wheeler, a bat and tee, a riding car, a busy ball popper (i almost typed pooper! ha), and some clothes. it was more fun for me than for myers. in dirty santa, i got a sound machine (which is what i was going for) and matt got cash!!

on christmas day, we woke up and santa had come. he brought some books, bath toys, a toy box and some other little goodies. then we went to "gina's" house and had breakfast and opened gifts. at gina's myers got some clothes, a push and ride lion, a basketball goal, praise baby dvd's, a car, some shoes and many other stocking stuffers. he really had a great christmas. i don't know if there are any toys left for him to get on his birthday.

then we left for the beach on christmas day!! it was so much fun. it was a little cold to go on the beach, but we had fun shopping, eating, lounging, playing phase 10 and wii karaoke and nursing marcus and marianna's stomach virus (which we gave them because we had it the week before...sorry!)

we went to the madison christmas parade last saturday. it was really fun. i don't think myers really understood what was going on, but he like the music and the people. it snowed the night before, so there was snow on the ground for the parade. we bundled him up in his bear suit, and he was very warm. matt took pictures of myers waving at the "ladies" in the parade.

my best friend from high school came in town this past weekend for our 10 year high school reunion. crazy!! i know. anyway, we went to mistletoe, and it really got me ready for the holidays. there was so much cute stuff. luckily for matt i left there with only two adorable christmas outfits for myers. i wish it was acceptable for kids to wear christmas clothes starting at halloween, not thanksgiving. of course we had to try on the outfits on all the kids.

7 months

well, the days are flying by, and i wish i could freeze time. where have 7 months gone? myers is changing so much everyday. he has started to have an opinion about things. he gets mad when you take things away from him. he loves to sit on the floor and play with toys. he thinks other kids are so funny. his favorite shows are the backyardagans and wheel of fortune. it's crazy how he is mesmorized by these two shows. he is almost crawling. he can get on his hands and knees and rock back and forth, but he can't go anywhere. he also does push ups a lot. he has started to roll over at night and sleep on his stomach. he is still sleeping good through the night. he is taking longer naps-like 1 1/2 to 2 hours each-twice a day. it's great!! he love all foods. he will eat anything. we just think he gets cuter every day. here are the 7 month pics. notice how difficult it was for me to get 1 good pic this time. he was going everywhere.

we had a very fun halloween this year. we went to the smiths for breakfast. it was delicious. we will definitely do it more often. no one had to rush and leave so they could get to bed. we crashed scott's sister's halloween party in reunion. it was really fun. there were a lot of kids. the costumes were great.

i can't believe october has come and gone. it's almost half way through november and i'm just now posting about october. i'm trying to remember all the things we did last month. myers got a new bathtub. he was out of control on his little foam pad. we saw evey's duck tub on the elkin's blog and decided to get one. it was a great $11.00 investment. myers loves it. he gets excited when we walk by the bathroom or when he hears the water running. we took a few trips during october. we went to tunica for a conference for matt's work. i got to see my teacher friends from olive branch, as well as the flanagans. we went to oxford for marianna's grove shower. myers made his first appearance in the grove. he had several babysitters while matt and i went to the game. here are some pics from october.

Although we are sad the Rockies didn't go to the World Series, we are very excited the Smiths are home. As most of you know, Myers and Sienna were born on the same day by the same doctor. The Smiths and the Tuminellos came over this weekend. The babies were so funny together. It was fun to watch them.

Six Month Stats

We had our six month check up last week. Dr. Smith said Myers got an A+. He weighed 20 lbs. 5 oz. which put him in the 90th %ile for weight. He was 27 in. long which was the 75th%ile. Our sweet quiet, reserved baby boy has gone wild!! He talks nonstop and thinks he can get anything no matter how far out of his reach it is. He will dive for something with no regard to the fact that he can't crawl or walk. He loves to sit on the floor an play with toys. His favorites include his car keys, his tool box, and his toothbrush. He loves his bunny and piggy on his carseat. He looks for them everytime we put him in his seat. He can put his "precious" in his mouth by himself. It's really nice during the night. Our newest trick is waving bye-bye(video to come). He can say bye-bye too, but he can't wave and say it at the same time. Here are our six month pics.

We have had our first sickness. I feel like we were pretty fortunate to make it 5 1/2 months without getting anything. It all starte about 3 weeks ago with a runny nose. I called the doctor, and they said it was probably teething. About a week later it keeps getting worse, so I call the doctor again. They said it was probably a sinus infection, and called in some antibiotics. Last week my babysitter called to tell me that both of her personal children had SWINE FLU!! I was a disaster. I starting thinking the worst. He's probably had swine flu for two weeks, etc. I called the doctor a third time and demanded to be seen. He did a swine flu test, and it was negative, thankfully!! But he does have ear infections in both ears!! Poor baby!

Call me a hippi, granola, or maybe crazy, but I have decided to take on the task of making baby food. Why you ask? 1. So I can do my part saving money. (One jar of baby food $.79; 1 sweet potato $.89 which makes a whole ice cube tray. Myers eats 2 cubes per meal. You do the math.) 2. More nutrients in homeade baby food. Anyway, it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Actually it was easy. Jordan Elkins gave me a really good website to get recipes from. It's www.wholesomebabyfood.com. It gives great details about which solids to introduce at what age. Even if you don't want to make all your baby food, there are still foods you can make for snacks and things. So, last Saturday I went to the farmer's market and bought sweet potatoes,green beans, butternut and acron squash, apples, pears, and avacados. It took me a long time (mainly because I had to entertain a 4 month old), but here are the results.

4 Month Stats

Now that Myers is almost 5 months old, let me update you on his 4 month stats. At our doctor visit on August 12th, he weighed 16 lbs. 2 oz. which puts him in the 65th %ile. He was 25 and 1/4th inches long which puts him in the 50th %ile for height. The doctor said that he looked healthy and that we needed to start solids to help him sleep through the night. He also said that we are not to feed him in the middle of the night. We tried to quit cold turkey, but we were so tired from listening to him cry. We have gotten him to make it until about 4 and then I feed him. I don't have the 4 month onsie pic. Sorry! Things just got too busy with my new job.

Myers was four months old on Friday. He gets more and more fun everyday. All you have to do is look at him and he smiles. He laughs so much. We probably tickle him more than we should because we love to hear that laugh. He is reaching for everything----with his left hand!! I'm left handed and Matt does some things left handed (golf, throws, bats, maybe), so he had a pretty good chance of being left handed. Our new trick is grabbing precious(see previuos post) from Mommy's hand and putting it in his mouth. He can almost do it. This is an important trick, so that I don't have to put it in his mouth 20 times a night. He is so big! We've started giving him some rice cereal, and he loves it. He won't even give me time to get another bite on the spoon! We had to reschedule his 4 month appointmet due to the funeral, so I don't have his stats. I have also not taken the 4 month onsie pic yet. And stay tuned---I promise the poll will be up this week. But for now you can look at these adorable new pics!

We had a sad weekend. Mamaw Cliburn passed away Friday night. She had cancer, and there was no way her 83 year old body was going to beat it. We are really going to miss her. She was one of a kind. She definitley didn't act 83, and she surely didn't dress like she was 83. She would give me her clothes that didn't fit her or she didn't like, and I would actually wear them! Her friends ranged in age from 18 to 80. She thought all of Matt, Marianna and Marcus's friends were her best friends too. She had the mind of a 20 year old. She knew every major league player and their stats. She knew every baseball game that was coming on and which channel. You couldn't be around her without laughing. She and Matt were very close. He was her first grandchild, and Myers was her first great-grandchild. It's going to be very weird without her, but we know she was excited to see Papa on Friday night!

I also want to say that I am so sad for Matt's mom. She has lost her dad, husband and mother in less that two and a half years. She is the strongest woman I know. If I were in her position, I don't think I could continue the way she does. As I stand back and watch her, she is always comforting someone else. She always speaks positive words and is looking for some way to help someone else (especially her kids). I have an amazing mother-in-law. I know she is going to miss her mama so much!

Champagne Taste

What's the saying? Champagne taste on a beer budget...something like that. This describes our son. I don't know where he gets this from. I finally retired the bassinet, only because he was kicking the top railing of it and his foot was propped up on the top. I decided to purchase a Pack-N-Play. Side note: I am going to move him to his bed when he isn't waking up 2 and 3 times a night. I go to Babies R Us and purchase a lower-end pack-n-play. Actually, it was free because I returned some things we had duplicates of. We set up the pack-n-play and guess what? He hates it!! Before I had a baby, I wouldn't have believed any parent that said this. I listened to him cry for an hour and a half in that pack-n-play. I was so determined that he was going to sleep in it, but he won't. We tried for 3 nights and gave up because we were so tired. Our solution: We traded Grandma Gina for her Cadillac pack-n-play. Of course she has the Graco Playard with a mobile, changing table, hood, and it's like double the size of ours. Only the best for her grandson. Guess what? We had a great night last night. Image that!!

RIP Precious

For those of you who haven't heard the story, we call our pacifiers "precious." Long story short, the only pacifier Myers would take was the mam mini. It was given to us with love last Christmas by Grandma Gina as a joke. There were two in the package-one had a blue heart and the other said "precious" on it. I searched every store and the internet to find a plain mam mini, but the only mam infant pacifiers they make are the heart and precious. Matt decide that no son of his would be seen with this in his mouth, so he took sandpaper and scratched off the word precious. So, since we came home from the hospital we have had heart precious and scratchy precious. All of this to say that preciuos is too small for Myers, so we have laid them to rest and moved up to the next size which is just plain blue and white. We are a little sad not to see that little blue heart in his mouth. Thank you MAM for making the next size up so plain!

I got a job . . . .

PART TIME!!!!!!!

I'm so excited! I will be teaching gifted(the really smart kids) 2 days a week at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary. This is the job I have been praying for. Since I began teaching, my long term goal was to teach gifted, but it is a really hard job to get because there are only 1 or 2 gifted teachers in each school When I quit my job in May, I had not idea how we were going to survive, but I just kept praying that God would open a door.

We took our annual Ginn, Duhon, Elkins beach trip last weekend to Rosemary Beach. I can't believe I actually went!! We had a blast! We had some great games of phase 10 and bachi ball. It was very strange not to have any responsibilities. I kept feeling like I needed to go check on Myers or change a diaper or something. Myers was in great hands. Marianna, Gina and Jamie took great care of him. I know they were completely worn out at the end of the weekend, but I think they all agreed that he is the sweetest, most cuddly, loving baby.

We saw a lot of hot air balloons this Fourth of July! On Friday we went to the Balloon Glow in Ridgeland. Thanks to Alderman Hamlin we got VIP passes and got to eat some good bar-b-q and see Diamond Rio up close!! On Saturday we ate at Nana's and went to Balloon Fest in Canton. The character balloons were HUGE! Unfortunately we didn't see any fireworks this year. Somebody got pretty nasty around 8 both nights. Also, rumor has it that the Ridgeland fireworks are the BRIGHTEST and LOUDEST in Mississippi. I didn't think we were ready for this yet!

Since we returned from all our travels, things have been really low key around here. The Elkins Family came to visit us on Saturday night. We had a great time. Evelyn has the most adorable personality. She was everywhere. We haven't seen her since she was a month old, and she has really changed. As we have kept up with her in pictures, we've noticed that her mouth is open in all of her pics. This weekend we saw that she keeps it open all the time with a huge grin on her face. It is precious. She loved Myers. Myers wasn't too sure about her, but I think he was just playing hard to get!!

Myers turned 3 months old yesterday. All parents say it, but I absolutely cannot believe he has been here three months. We love him so much and have so much fun with him. He is a pretty laid back baby. He is holding his head up really well, and smiles and laughs all the time. It's crazy that I never get tired of watching him smile. He has found his hands and keeps them in his mouth all the time, and he drools like crazy. He likes anything when he is happy and likes nothing when he is unhappy. He is a TV junkie. I cannot stand this!! I've heard this is just a stage he is going through. Thankfullly our friend Allison gave us all of her Baby Einstein videos, so Myers doesn't become addicted to Judge Judy. (although he really does love the Full House episodes when Michele is a baby.)Enjoy the pics!!

A Couple of Milestones

Milestone #1

Until the last couple of days, Myers's life has been pretty uneventful-eat, sleep, smile, change diaper, repeat. As many of you know, Myers sleeps right between Matt and me. I got tired of hearing, "You better get him in his own bed," so I decided to put him in his bed at 8 last night, thinking that he would cry and I would just have to go get him. Wrong! The only one crying was me. I cried and cried. He laid in his bed like a perfect little angel and fell right to sleep. After a long 3 1/2 hours, he finally got hungry and cried. I got him and brought him beck where he belonged. I am going to try again tonight and slowly keep him there til morning.

Milestone #2

Sometimes I let Myers sleep on his stomach. (Don't tell the doctor. I only do it when I'm lying beside him watching him. He just sleeps so good!!) Anyway, he has gotten really good at holding his head up and pushing up on his arms. This morning he pushed up and ROLLED OVER!! I couldn't believe it. I thought it had to have been an accident. I put him back on his stomach and he did it again. I made him do it 3 more times to get some pictures, until he got mad at me.

On the Move-The Details

As Matt said, I have the details of our traveling. San Fran was so fun. It is very different from the south. Traveling with an infant is definitely different. Pros-you don't wait in any lines at the airport, people are so nice to you (I guess the feel sorry for you), you can put all your bags in the stroller instead of carrying them. (Sidenote-I'm so glad we went ahead and got our stroller. It treated us so good on vacation!!!). Cons-Your endeavors can't be more than an hour or two, if the baby starts crying you just have to start apologizing and leave, you can't take any stairs, you have to find a ramp. Bottom line-things just aren't as simple as they used to be, but we had a blast taking Myers.

Myers did great on the plane. We flew to Houston, then changed planes and flew to San Francisco. The Houston flight was only an hour, but the San Francsico flight was almost 4 hours. It was long. Myers didn't cry the whole way there or the whole way home until the final landing in Jackson. He had had enough. He started that cry that you can't fix. I just had to apologize to everyone on our tiny plane. Everyone was very understanding.

We got home on Wednesday night and left again on Friday for Tupelo to go to the cd release party for John Milstead's new cd. Birdie's Nana kept Myers. She said he did great. This was the first time Matt and I have had a night out. We had a blast hanging out with Birdie, John, Crystal, and Maria. Maria was so sweet to let us stay at her house and cooked us the most delicious breakfast on Saturday morning.

We went to Memphis on Saturday. Matt went to the St. Jude Golf Tournament and Myers and I hung out with Uncle Crystal. Here are some of MY favorite pics.

On The Move

We haven't posted in a while. We have been on the move! We started last Saturday at 4:00 am headed to San Francisco, CA. San Fran was a blast. Pictures are below. We returned to Madison on Wednesday to go back to work on Thursday and Friday and then headed off to Tupelo and Memphis on Friday night. Friday night, we heard Milstead blow the roof off of Old Venice for his CD release party and then to Memphis on Saturday morning to see Phil play in the St. Jude Championship. I know Kacey will have more details later, but below are some of my favorite pics.

On Friday Birdie spent the night with us. Birdie, Myers and I wen to Nagoya and Maggie Moo's on Friday night. On Saturday Myers and I went to a rubber ducky themed baby shower for my friend Ashley who is having baby Lucy in September. On Sunday we visited First Baptist (since we can't seem to find a church). This was the first time Myers went to the nursery. I have no idea what the sermon was about because I was too worried about our pager going off. Yes, it was a real pager like you had in middle school. He did fine. After church the "Ginn Girls" all went to lunch at Brookwood to celebrate Marianna's graduation. On Sunday afternoon we went swimming in Gina's new blow-up pool. Myers had a great time for about 10 minutes then got tired and had to take a nap. Sunday night we went to visit Mamaw Cliburn. Myers cuddled up to her so sweetly!!

So I've been reading a baby book that said that babies will start making vowel sounds around two months old like aaaaa as in apple ooooo as in look. Matt and I have been making these sounds at Myers so he can copy them. He thinks that the ooooo is so funny!! Anyone with a kid knows that you will do anything to make your kid laugh. Everyone always tells you to find your passion, do what you love doing, don't waste time doing a job you hate. Well I found my passion. Being a mom. It is the first time I wake up every day and can say those words, "I love what I do." What's the problem you ask? I don' t get paid! So all of this to say---I'm quitting my job!! I'm going to stay home with Myers. I'm going to tutor in the afternoons. So if you think you see me mowing your neighbor's yard-it is me! We've Recovered!

We have finally recovered from our long weekend. Traveling with a baby is very different from taking a quick weekend trip with just the two of us. On Thursday we went to Oxford and spent the night. We went to Hernando on Friday because we found out we had a leak at our house. It turned out great because w got to see Niki, Reid, and Mary Abbott. Mary Abbott was so sweet with Myers. She acted like a little mommy. I also surprised my Pleasant Hill teachers. They hadn't seen Myers, so they were very excited when we showed up. I cried a little because I really miss them. Then we went to Itty Bitty where we got Myers the cutest outfit. We went back to Oxford on Friday night. Everyone went to the baseball game and Myers and I stayed at the condo because Birdie Godmother came in from Tupelo to see her godson. She got to hold him and he went to sleep in her arms!!!

On Saturday we planned to go to Aunt Marianna's graduation, but the graduation had to be moved from 11 to 2 because of the rain. By 2 o'clock Myers was ready to go home. Marianna had a surprise party back in Jackson Saturday night and Myers wasn't going to make it if he didn't get back to his house and rest. So we didn't actually get to see Marianna accept her diploma but we got some pics with her in her cap and gown and that's all that counts! We are so proud of her!!! We took a long nap and went to her party Saturday night at Gina's house.

On Sunday we went to church with Nana and Papaw and ate lunch with them and Aunt Jamie at the fish house. I had a great first Mother's Day. I wot a necklace from Myers with a key on the end. Matt says Myers holds the key to my heart. He was kidding, but it's the truth! It has taken us yesterday and today to recover, but we had so much fun!!!! Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

Random Lady at Wedding Reception: "Oh, your baby is sooo cute!!"

Birdie: "Thanks, but he's not mine. He's my best friend's baby, but he is so cute."

Random Lady: "Yes, he is a beautiful baby."

Birdie: "Well, thanks. I am his godmother."

(1 Week Later)

Birdie: "I have a confession about Myers."

Kacey: "What did you do Birdie?"

Birdie: "I told someone that I was Myers's godmother."

Kacey: "Birdie, are you hinting that you would like to be Myers's godmother."

Birdie: "I would love to be his godmother!!"

We are not Catholic, but my child has a new self-proclaimed fairy godmother.

One Month Old

Myers was one month old yesterday. By the way-if he was born on the 31st and the month only has 30 days, do you celebrate on the 30th or the 1st? We celebrated on the 1st. I had always seen people make signs for their babies with the month on them, and I thought there could be something I could do on a onesie. Being the crafty and cheap (more cheap than crafty)couple that we are, Matt and I saw these onesies on etsy.com and decided we could make them. Here's the result. Not quite as good as etsy's but cute!!

We got Myers's newborn pictures made on Monday. I love our photographer. She photographed our wedding. She was so good with Myers. I haven't gotten the proofs yet, but she posted two pics on her blog www.allimphoto.typepad.com. The pics are really sweet.

We've Done It!!

We've officially started a blog. We can't help it because we are completely obsessed with Myers and we want everyone to see him. Myers was born on March 31st at 11:28 a.m. He weighed 6lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 in. long. We are absolutely in love with him. I take back everything I've ever said about crazy moms because I am one. I just stare at him all day and think everything he does is advanced. He is one month old today and I cannot believe it (I used to hate when moms said that). Yesterday he smiled at me when I smiled at him. No it was not gas. I made him do it fifty times to make sure. Here's a pic.
